in her hands

in her hands

I can always count on my little daughter to entertain and enlighten me with her antics. For instance today, she spent half an hour trying to carry a bag that was three times her size. She would periodically yell with frustration. It’s funny to see an ambitious toddler waddling around, never questioning her ability to do anything. I then wondered, how do we morph into individuals who are too scared to even try? When does self-doubt start to creep in and cripple us?

I know as a mother , I will spend a lot of my life getting her to believe that she can indeed even carry the world, if she desires. But I can only hope that I will win over the tides of reality.
